We arrived at the pump shed on the Sand Road and opposite is a great little spot to launch, left bus there and paddled down river.

We were a group of 10 from Camp Wilkin in Anglesea and after a good hour paddling we arrived at our camp site. There is a pontoon to dock on and the camping ground was very damp under foot. Warm clothes are the go down here. We saw plenty of koala bears in the trees nearby and had the place almost to ourselves.

In the morning we continue down river and made it to the sea in about 1 hour, the wind was up and waves in the river were up to almost half a meter, the chop made for heaps of fun till Dean lost his cap and glasses.

After a good look around we climbed a cliff to get the best views of the ocean, it was very rough, we returned to canoes traveled back to camp and got your gear and headed back to the Sand Road launch spot. The paddle back was hard, we were tired and the river had a steady flow but we made it, had lunch and headed home to Anglesea via the Great Ocean Road about 2 hours drive.

This was a great trip, in all 10 of us took part and we all had a great time, learnt a bit about the bush, camping, starting fires and cooking. We would recommend it to anyone wanting a good adventure only 100 km away from Anglesea. As all our gear food clothing was in or canoes careful planning of what to take is advised.
